Good morning all and welcome to the first live blog for the week.

Making news locally, two sprawling, dilapidated Chinese-style mansions have sold sight unseen for just $1.95 million apiece to a yet to be disclosed Victorian not-profit with a head office in China.

Located in the southern suburb of Banjup, the 4.5-hectare property was never lived in because the owner returned to China for family reasons.

An aerial view of two Chinese mansions attracted offers a fraction of the estimated $75 million construction cost.

And frustrated Perth local governments say the state is not pulling its weight in the fight against the polyphagous shot-hole borer as it falls short on physical signage communicating important quarantine zones that fall over the Perth metro area.

For something a little lighter, this week’s Three Things I Love perspective comes from someone who regards sneakers as not just a way to keep our feet safe and dry, but as a way of life.

Jamal Diallo moved to Perth in 2016 and founded 1OFF Store and Australian streetwear convention Sneakerland, whose events across Perth, Sydney and Melbourne have attracted thousands.

Stay with us as we bring you the news of the day.
