The health facility at Namuka had to wait at least two months for their boat, according to Minister for Health Dr Atonio Lalabalavu.
The minister said villagers had waited 25 years for the delivery of their boat so two more months was not an issue.
“I wanted to come personally to hand over this boat to the health facility,” Dr Lalabalavu said.
In his address, the minister said he had advised the nurse a few weeks before Thursday’s handover that the boat was ready to be delivered.
“She was so happy when we relayed the news to her,” said Dr Lalabalavu adding the boat would serve villagers on Tawake and other nearby islands.
“The villagers of Tawake and other communities in the area rely on this health facility.”
