TWO Grace Road directors have filed an interrogatory application containing 23 questions to be answered by Immigration Minister Pio Tikoduadua.

Sung Jin Lee and Nam Suk Choi’s defence representatives, from Gordon and Company, informed Justice Anare Tuilevuka yesterday of their application in the High Court in Suva.

This application contained the unissued copy of summons, the affidavit in support of Wasu Pillay and the applicants’ interrogatories. Appearing on behalf of the Attorney-General’s office, lawyer Ofa Solimailagi said the questions had been reviewed, however, she indicated that not all questions would be answered because the minister might not be the relevant authority or there might be certain information which the minister does not have.

Ms Solimailagi has sought to file an affidavit in answer to the questions before the close of business on September 24.

Meanwhile, lawyer Devanesh Sharma, appearing on instructions of Gordon and Company, hopes the state (respondent) will at least answer 17 out of the 23 questions. Mr Sharma proposed that both parties meet in order to iron out the issues amongst themselves to prevent any potential conflict.

He also revealed AG’s office has not disclosed the taskforce report to the defendants.

The matter will be called again in the High Court in Lautoka on September 25.
