NAGOYA (Kyodo) — Kazuyoshi Tatsunami said Wednesday he would leave his post as Chunichi Dragons manager at the conclusion of this season to take responsibility for the team’s poor record.
The 55-year-old Tatsunami is in the third and final year of his contract with the Nagoya-based Central League club.
After last-place finishes in 2022 and 2023, the Dragons dropped into the CL cellar after an 8-3 home thumping at the hands of the Hanshin Tigers.
“In a job where the only thing that matters is winning, I haven’t done that,” Tatsunami said after the loss to Hanshin.
